Exercise is My Post-Thanksgiving Tradition

November 26, 2010

While some families go out and camp at malls after eating Thanksgiving dinner, mine takes a walk.

It’s a tradition for us to exercise after our big meal. We even pause before the final course, which we enjoy in a dessert bar.

Get your moves on.

  • Walk around the hood. Someone has to have put up their Christmas decorations—or perhaps they’ve never taken them down from last year. Enjoy.
  • Head out to the mall. You don’t have to bring your wallet along with you to walk and gawk at the decorations.
  • Go where there are shiny things. The Hotel del Coronado, for one, in San Diego always has spectacular decorations. The historical hotel was the location for the movie, “Some Like it Hot.” And more than 120 years after it was built, this place is  still a crowd pleaser. This year the Hotel del, as locals say, will feature a holiday festival, Victorian teas and even ice skating on the beach. Everything will be illuminated by more than 100,000 white lights.
  • Stay home and get your exercise on with a workout DVD. You’ll be done with your workout in the time it would take to go to the gym.
