This Month is Crazy for Quinoa Month

June 3, 2010

This month my culinary focus is quinoa, pronounced keen-wah.

The Incas called quinoa the mother of all grains and why not. It has characteristics a mother would love.

It’s high in protein and a great source for fiber, iron and magnesium.

So on the menu are quinoa pizzas, quinoa burgers, and quinoa lots of fun.

I’ve only eaten it once, at a fancy restaurant in San Diego. I didn’t like it very much. By the end of this month, I will love it.

Life and quinoa–and tofu for that matter, is what you make it.

Let the quinoa craziness begin.

I’m so glad people are starting to pay attention to quinoa! There are so many great ways to prepare it. I just made a delicious sweet/savory/spicy quinoa salad with black eyed peas, spicy olives, and raisins. Here’s a link to the recipe… I’d love to hear what you think!

Good luck with your quinoa-adoption project!

You got it. Quinoa is great. I’ve been making things that I didn’t even think were possible with it.
